The Proper Restaurant and Bar

We go to proper every year before we hit enchanted forest of light at Descanso. We love the happy hour in the bar. Great appetizers and drinks. Can't be beat for that

Love the ambiance of the restaurant. I feel like it's a cozy library. I've really only had drinks at this restaurant and my favorite is the espresso martini. The service is always kind and attentive. The one time I tried the truffle fries, I found it extremely oily and felt like I got the bottom of the barrel, broken oily pieces . It wasn't much to my liking. I will give them another try just to see if maybe it might of just been a bad batch . The parking is a little tight , recommend parking in the opposite parking lot which houses Round Table Pizza .

I loved everything about this restaurant! The ambiance was beautifully old-school, with a mix of jazz and library elements that gave it a timeless and elegant charm. The food was outstanding. We started with the happy hour guacamole, and it was one of the best I've had in years--fresh and perfectly seasoned. The salad was crisp and well-dressed, and the chicken piccata was tender and packed with delicious flavors. To finish, the molten cake was just right--not overly sweet and perfectly balanced in texture. This place is an absolute gem, and I can't wait to come back!

La Cañada, The Proper rocks. Delicious food, superb alcohol, and upbeat atmosphere for a terrific Saturday night. Be sure to walk through and enjoy the 1940s and '50s style wall art dictating how to live properly! Recommendations: Short rib melt Chopped salad Key lime pie The black Manhattan Come by and have a proper ol' time!

Went on a Thursday night and it was pretty happening. The ambiance was cool and I felt like I was in someone's modern house. I ended up getting the short rib tacos which were pleasantly delicious. It also came with chicken tortilla soup which I devoured. It's a cool place to eat, not really to chat. The noise level was a bit too much for me personally. The servers were attentive and very friendly.

We had an amazing time at The Proper, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and steaming hot. Very welcoming hostess, pleasant and friendly. Daisy C, was our waitress and she was so sweet, efficient, hardworking, knowledgeable, patient and very nice. There was great team work and everyone helped one another. Every single dish we ordered was delicious and definitely worth coming back and for Yelpers to try this local gem
